starting up the blog again!

The last year and a half has been a big time of transition for us, including moving seven times, one of those being from France back to the good ol’ USofA, in January of 2013. We’re finally settled now in an apartment in my hometown of Portland, Oregon; I haven’t lived here for over 10 years so it feels great to be back! And…

in paris for the half-marathon

We went up to Paris to run in the half-marathon, and as we had some extra time we got to do a bit of bopping about the city. Jay took some really fabulous photos that would be a crime not to share. Every time I visit Paris I get this ridiculous desire to move there and I irrationally convince myself that it really could…

ski trip 2012

Got to spend an wonderful week in the Alps with dear friends, enjoying the incredible scenery, goofing around, (and skiing a LOT) enjoying the cozy chalet refueling with tons of yummy French food (Raclette here), and trying not to fall of the edge of mountains.

day in lyon visiting friends

The Grand Café: our fave place for coffee in Lyon. Love the kids learning to ride in the city at such a young age! A super amazing shop window. The whole store is PACKED floor to ceiling with stuff, but it’s amazingly organized and curated! In Place Bellecour with the wonderful Klopp family. They live just around the corner from this square, which is the…

bike ride with curtis & jay

Out on a bike ride in the hills & hamlets surrounding Cluny. If I had to live in a small town in France (larger than a village but smaller than a real town), I would so pick Cluny. If the church was still standing, Cluny would probably be one of the most famous places in France, alas, that wasn’t to be it’s destiny. Now…

paulomania

I just got back from 24 hours of “Paulomania” in Lyon. “Paul” being Paul Bocuse, one of the most influential chefs of modern French cuisine. I went to the graduation ceremony for his cooking school that I attended back in May-June; it was for the students graduating with Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees. I probably wouldn’t have gone (I’m a little shy of events…

bike trip to spain

So…….here’s the post about our bike trip that I started but never got around to finishing! Better late than never! To sum it up, we had a fabulous time…wonderful friends friends, beautiful scenery, sweet biker-shorts tans, and a whole new appreciation for campsites that actually have grass and picnic tables. And there were some rough moments, usually involving steep hills combined with intense sun,…

on the road again

Tomorrow morning we’re leaving on a 20 day bicycle trip with Paul and Bekah. Jay’s been planning this for a long time…and I’ve been dreading the hills for a long time. 🙂 We’re leaving from our place and are heading southward (which should be easier since it’s down-hill, right?) to Barcelona. I’m anticipating this trip to be one of the more challenging adventures we’ve…
